ABOUT THE BAND

The Lowell High School Band program has been flourishing in recent years. As recently as 1998 the band was at its lowest enrollment in decades, with about 13 members. Since then, under director Brandon Clark, and with the help of a small group of very dedicated high school band members, the band has grown steadily over the years. Those pioneering student leaders established a student band committee, which oversees the very important vital functions and planning of band activities, trips and performances.

2004-05 CONCERT BAND

Many of those students were members of the classes of 2002, 2003 and 2004. The band they have helped to build is stronger, larger and more respected than ever.. Mr. Clark especially attributes this success to the influence of the five 4-year band members of the class of 2003; Rachel Allen, Stephen Lee, Brian McCullock, Kimberly Trimpop, and Mike Tucker. Those five students had a unique perspective on the band’s renaissance, having seen the more dramatic growth during their high school years than any other class since 1999. Even since then and today, the band continues to raise its standard for excellence, grow, and evolve.

The band has expanded its scope for performing, traveling and competing through its growth. The band performs over 30 times each year, and has traveled to Virginia, Toronto, Cleveland and Montreal. The marching band has also started performing at MICCA marching festivals.

ABOUT THE BAND DIRECTOR

Lowell High School Band Director Brandon Clark earned a Bachelor of Music Degree from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst, and a Master of Music Education Degree at Gordon College in Wenham, Massachusetts. Mr. Clark served as instrumental music director at Mascenic Regional High School and Boynton Middle School in New Ipswich, New Hampshire. He was also the director of the Contoocook Valley Regional High School band in Peterborough, New Hampshire. He has been the director of the Lowell High School Band since 1999.
